The Alhambra Theatre was built in 1914 as a variety theatre for the performer and Edwardian "King of Pantomime" Francis Laidler. The site on which the theatre is built is sloping and tapering resulting in a quite unique building which has a richly plastered and ornate interior, recently restored and extended.
