All Saints Parish Church, Ilkley
All Saints Parish Church, Ilkley

Christians have worshipped on the site of the church since 627A.D. The first church was built from the stone taken from the Roman Fort of Olicana which stood on this spot and was abandoned in 4th century A.D. The present building is partly Medieval and contains some 8th century carved stone Saxon crosses. The high quality of these carvings indicates that Ilkley, in Anglo Saxon times, was an important ecclesiastical centre.
