White Wells - Ilkley

The story of the discovery of The White Wells goes back to the 18th century A shepherd with an injured leg that had failed to heal noticed that it began to get better when he bathed his leg daily in the spring waters at White Wells. Although the use of these spring waters goes back to the 17th century, the first printed reference to the spa dates from 1710 when it was recorded that drinking and bathing in the waters was a cure for tuberculosis.
