At Godshill village, ignore the path, take the small road to the church and just around the corner the church and thatched cottages come into view. The church was planned to be built at the bottom of the hill, but each night the building materials were mysteriously moved up to the top of the hill. The villagers gave up bringing the materials down again and decided that the top of the hill was where God wanted his church. Hence the name Godshill. |
